Garmin Nuvi 3790T Customer Reviews
Real Reviews Submitted by Real Users!
After I purchased this system as a replacement for my Nuvi 760, I found that I couldn't believe the clarity!
This device is almost on par with my iPhone 4 which is quite the compliment. I paid around $449.00 and I wasn't
sure if it was worth it but after using it for a short time I realize that it was indeed worth every penny. When I
was using my Nuvi 760 I had a serious issue with the volume which is to say I couldn't hear it when I had my radio
on. This however is not true with the 3790T.
On one last note regarding techmigration, you can actually import your existing favorites so long as you already
have a Nuvi. The current.gpx file can be moved to the existing folder so long as you rename it to temp.gpx. The
correct folder is GarminGXP.
Pros and Cons
PROS:
The maps are beautiful

Thin and Lightweight
Tough, Solid build
High audio speaker
Great voice commands for hands free operation
High quality blue tooth operation
Duel Orientation for operation in both horizontal and vertical positions.

CONS:
Incredibly expensive, and more so than other GPS units on the market.
Orientation change is slow.
This GPS is incredible. I have been a long time user of Garmin GPS units for cars, and I have actually
owned:
StreetPilot III
c550
When I compare this unit to the previous two, factoring in the form factor, design, and ease of mounting, the
3760T is simply unmatched. One problem I have found however is that the unit can hang in Bluethooth mode, which is
why it only gets a three star rating from me. When I connecte dthe 3760T to my Blackberry Bold 9000 it worked for a
week, but when I tried to connect it to my computer using the USB cable, it hung. I did try rebooting, but it
simply hung at the Map Loading screen.
If couldn't figure out what the cause of the problem was, and I tried to conenct it with the car power adapter.
The unit would get to Loading Map, but the touch controls were nonexistent. For a while I thought that I had
corrupted map data.
When I got home, I noticed that the Bluetooth indicator was on. The Garmin was in sleep mode, so this should
have been disabled. I disabled it manually, and the Garmin 3760T booted up just fine.
If you plan on using this as your travling GPS, it would be a good idea to turn your phone's Bluetooth off
before proceeding!
