TomTom GO 2435TM Customer Reviews
Real Reviews Submitted by Real Users!
If you have trouble deciphering the instruction manuals to most modern electronics (though if you have kids,
you're in luck, since they all seem to understand them) or dread buying electronics which don't even include
instructions (like most cell phones these days), then this is a product which will come as a refreshing surprise.
It's incredibly easy to use; if you can tap the keys on the intuitive user interface and type in an address, you're
set!
I haven't used any other GPS devices, so I don't really have anything to compare the TomTom GO 2345TM to, so if
you're a GPS enthusiast, you may want to read some reviews by more experienced users. If you're entirely new to GPS
devices like I was though, this is a great choice. If I could get started using this device right away, anyone
can.
I've had so much fun with this GPS unit that I've gone through more gas than I would have otherwise; but that's
only because I've become obsessed with finding new ways to get from point A to point B. Highly recommended.
The TomTom GO 2435TM is the first GPS device I've ever bought and it has more than fulfilled my expectations.
Its large 4.3" screen is easy to read, it has lifetime traffic and maps with no service contract and most
importantly, it's easy to use. The TomTom gives voice announcements of routes, places of interest, highway exists;
everything you could want from a GPS unit, in other words. It also has voice recognition (a big plus in my book)
and can run on battery power, so it doesn't need to be plugged in all the time. Honestly, I can't think of anything
I'd like to see improved here.
If you're in the market for a GPS unit, this one has to be one of the very best on the market. Get it now, you
won't regret it.
The high points:
- The TomTom GO 2345TM finds GPS satellites significantly faster than my old GPS device
- The display is large, bright and easy to read.
- The unit switches from day to night mode automatically.
- It provides traffic information, which can come in handy. However, I'm not really sure how well its routing works
with this information, since I've found that even when it tells me that there's heavy traffic on a particular
route, it will still tell me it's the fastest way to go. Perhaps if there were really serious delays, however, it
might urge me to take an alternate route.
The low points:
- When I turn off the car, the GPS unit also turns off, so I need to manually turn it on each time I start my car
(my old GPS unit would at least turn on automatically when I started the car).
- The keypad can be a little unresponsive at times, which can get annoying when you're trying to type in a search
for a point of interest.
- There are times when the unit can't find things that really shouldn't be difficult. For instance, I tried
searching for a gas station when I knew there was one about a mile away and it couldn't find one.
Things that annoy me about the TomTom:
- One of the reasons that I went for a TomTom in the first place is the option to download celebrity and cartoon
character voices for the unit. It's not that important, I know; but it's something I thought would be fun.
Unfortunately, while there are downloadable voices available for most of TomTom's GPS units, this doesn't happen to
be one of them. According to the company's website, they'll be available sometime in the near future; which would
be fine except that it's been saying this for some time now.
