TomTom GO 2535TM Customer Reviews

I first tried this GPS unit over a long weekend of winery tours in Washington and Oregon and was thoroughly
impressed with the TomTom GO 2535TM's voice recognition features; it made entering addresses quite a bit
easier.
Over the course of the weekend I entered perhaps two dozen different addresses all over the two states by voice
and the system recognized every one - I didn't even have to touch the screen at all. Particularly since I'm from
the UK and speak with a non-US accent, there were often other passengers talking while I was entering addresses, I
was very impressed.
Overall, I'd recommend this GPS unit on the strength of its voice recognition features, but it offers a lot
more, including speed limit information, life time map and traffic information, a large, easy to read screen with
3D and 2D maps and more. Voice recognition is a feature which I find to be especially important since it prevents
me from being distracted while I'm behind the wheel and as such, it's really a crucial feature for any driver to
have in their GPS system.
I was amazed at how easily this device recognizes addresses through voice commands. So far, it's gotten
everything on the first try without me having to type in anything - since this means that you can enter an address
while driving, it's a much safer way to go. The device also lets you correct an address entered by voice to make
sure you get the right directions.
The screen is bright and easy to read and it provides routing quickly. Something I really liked about this unit
is its lane guidance feature, which is great for driving on busy highways and city streets. The GPS location seems
to be very accurate as well.
I've had the TomTom GO 2535 TM for about a week and it's been just about perfect so far. The unit's voice
recognition works perfectly just about every time; it also has a large 5" screen which is easy to read - much
easier so than the 4.3" screen on my previous TomTom unit. It's very easy to use as well; I was using it like a pro
after just a few route plans. One difference people migrating from older units will notice is that this system uses
MyTomTom rather than TomTom Home as on older TomTom systems. I have yet to find out for sure how to handle upgrades
and product registration; the company seems to be currently changing how updates work. If you're looking for a new
TomTom GPS, you may want to wait until this is ironed out.
It's great that this unit displays plenty of information on the screen, but personally I think it could be
slightly better organized.
The magnetic mount on this model works well and the unit's traffic avoidance feature is excellent. The system
regularly updates you on which routes to take to avoid traffic, which I think is very useful.
The only thing I really don't like about this model is that you have to press a button to turn on the voice
control feature. Some other models of GPS unit (like the Garmin 2460LMT, for instance) allow you to turn on voice
commands just by saying "voice command". While I love everything else about this TomTom, I might stick with my
Garmin because of this improved voice control feature.
